Lydwen, harpe celtique

Whispers of the Fairies Land
celtic Harp - Musical Legends

about Lydwen... a little biography :

Summer, 1991, island of Bréhat... Lydwen discovers a funny instrument, the Celtic harp. The blow of lightning is immediate, and irreversible.
Nevertheless, nothing predestined her for this instrument. Indeed, rather turned in this time towards the alternative rock music (Dead can Dance, Cocteau Twins, the Cure) and pop-rock music of across the Channel, Lydwen didn't then know anything of the breton music, and even less the harp. But especially another problem arose, and not the slightest: Lydwen had never played any musical instrument previously !...
Never mind, she accepted the challenge! After some private tuition gleaned here and there, she entered the conservatoire of Saint-Malo at the end of 1992, and already ventured on the composition right on the first year... the passion was really there, definitively anchored.
After three years in class of harp where she learned the bases of the instrument as well as the music theory and the lyric song, it's finally as self-taught that she was going to pursue her muse...

Avid of sharing beautiful emotions that music gave her, Lydwen decided to make its weapons in spectacle of street, and the old city of Saint-Malo has been her first public during summer 1999.
It had been according to Lydwen her most beautiful school and a real source of inspiration, the street becoming a fabulous theater of improvisation for her.
Then began numerous "summer-walks", harp on the shoulder, through cities, parks and gardens of Brittany and of elsewhere; she also invited herself in very numerous festivals, with a very big blow of heart for the medieval festivals of the region.

Thanks to these improvised concerts, organizers had been attracted by her work and then gave her her first contracts.

At the end of 2000, Lydwen choosed to completely dedicate himself to the music, At the end of 2000, Lydwen chose to completely dedicate himself to the music
So she definitively abandoned the architecture ( his former profession) to follow her passion, passion for music and passion for her native country of Brittany, the one told by the very old legends, the Brittany of the fairies, sprites, dragons and sirens...

bbIn spring 2003, Lydwen has been one of the prizewinners in the Kan ar Bobl festival in Brittany, one of the most important demonstrations of the culture of the Brittany, and received by the jury a special mention for the quality of her performance. This recognition of her work by professionals of the Breton scene has encouraged her more still in her choices.

Then Lydwen has added a new rope to her harp: the tale, delivering us to the passage these poetries which she wrote since a long time and which she put henceforth on music.

Since spring 2006, Lydwen also writes musical tales for the children, little stories where the Nature is always sovereign, where butterflies speak to the human beings, and where cats dream about journeys in the stars; invented stories naturally but where the children can also discover really " how the Nature does her work", and all the small miracles which she reserves to those who simply open very big eyes on the world which surrounds them...

bb In April 2007, Lydwen has been one more time prizewinning in the competitions of the "Kan ar Bobl" in Brittany, and received a special mention for her musical creation and the quality of her performance.
